SUMMARY:

The Collections Specialist is responsible for administrative guidance, coordination and control over a variety of finance efforts to collect on delinquent student accounts. Utilizes various communication methods to successfully get in touch with the students. 

Discusses repayment and settlement options on the outstanding balance owed; processes credit card payments received from debtors and maintains confidentiality of students’ personal information; handles requests by third party processor for student payment plans; provides excellent customer service in accordance with the mission and purpose of the organization and assures compliance with federal, state and all regulatory/governmental organizations appropriate within the education industry.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum two years of related work experience required. 
• Prior accounting experience to include accounts receivable, billing, accounting and cashiering and reconciliation of accounts with appropriate/equivalent industry experience. 
• Experience in student registration in a Community College environment preferred.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in for-profit setting, internal accounting controls, bookkeeping and general accounting principles, methods and practices of financial recordkeeping, and general recordkeeping techniques preferred

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
